This step is a pre-cursor to the actual design phase of any project. The use of simple grey boxes and text serves many productive purposes. For example, it helps us identify and predict possible usability issues with a site before any design comps are produced. It also helps keep the client focused on information architecture as opposed to color and design. The use of wire frames may seem like an extra step, but in the long run, it often saves both time and production dollars. And that’s a good thing.
